“EQUILIBRIUM” – The new double album out on 20th october

Giovanni Allevi is back on the music scene with “Equilibrium”, the new symphonic double album of new pieces where two musical souls meet in a ‘precarious’ equilibrium, the one that has always characterized his work: the rebellious and carefree “rock” spirit that bucks tradition and the classical, academic spirit that leads the orchestration with utmost precision.

Accompanying Allevi in this new project is the Italian Symphonic Orchestra and, for the first time, another pianist: the American virtuoso Jeffrey Biegel who boasts collaborations with artists from Leonard Bernestein to Keith Emerson.

“Equilibrium” (Bizart/Artist First) is ideally and physically divided into two parts. CD1, with 10 tracks of which 5 solo piano pieces performed by Allevi, introspective and intense and 5 where he is accompanied by the Strings of the Italian Symphonic Orchestra in a dialogue which spans different moods, from gentleness to roars of pain.
CD2, completely different, with its Concert for Piano and Orchestra no 1, in which the composer Giovanni Allevi conducts the Italian Symphonic Orchestra, while the piano solo is entrusted into the hands of Jeffrey Biegel. This concert in three movements was born as a counter-trend to the contemporary world and sets its roots in a broad classical tradition where the language becomes the story made of intervals and intense emotional outbursts.

The symphonic work was composed on an island in the Atlantic Ocean while the other pieces were developed during the period of bed rest in the dark, following the operation on his eyes in Japan. The exception is “No words” piece for piano and strings composed on 25 August 2016 at Ascoli Piceno, the morning after a terrible earthquake that killed hundreds and devastated many towns just a few kilometres away from where Giovanni was staying with his family.
